What I’ve Got: Data Visualization

In a world inundated by data, clarity is refreshing. It is estimated that we are hit with more than 5,000 advertising messages every single day, not to mention the other forms of information that try to push and pull our opinions one piece at a time. We are so flooded with information that 90% of the world’s data has been created in the past two years.

It stands to reason, therefore, that an ability to clearly synthesize and communicate data is desirable. The king of this field is Hans Rosling, whose “bubble” approach to communicating massive chunks of data has earned him celebrity status on TED. Though his foci range from public health to economics, his practice can be applied nearly anywhere that data exists – simple and concise data visualizations can help people make sense of information and implement practical solutions to the opportunities exposed therein.
