What I’ve Got: Hating Comic Sans

It is common among appreciators of typography to scream, shout and shriek whenever they encounter a document that makes use of the font that shall not be named:

There have been documentaries discussing the issue, online lists of reasons why not to use comic sans, and countless peer-reinforced reminders to mock the professor-turned-5th grader who makes the mistake of projecting Comic Sans in a lecture. Merits of the font aside, the hatred is self-reinforcing and is viral because it has the ability to grow exponentially and is easily recognizable. Further, it is easy to relate as a “most basic thing to know about typography,” conveyed to anyone who decides to learn the first thing about the art of type.
