With more young people moving into smaller cities like Philadelphia, on top of the usual flow of college graduates to larger cities like New York and San Francisco, there is more demand than ever for living amenities of suburban and rural life to be adapted to the urban lifestyle. This most often comes in the form of reducing the size of the product, while keeping the same functionality. Examples include folding bikes, beds that flip down from cabinet walls, and most recently, the miniature balcony grill:

The elements of desirability incorporated here include adaptation of a traditional product to a niche market by solving a problem, and capitalizing on a trend in style by appealing to the urban minimalist chic with matte black and silver, sans frills.
