What I’ve Got: Gravity Light

This LED light operates without electricity – through only the force of gravity. A bag containing sand, rocks, or dirt is attached to a rope that passes through a set of gears. During the 30-minute operation time, the bag slowly lowers, turning the gears and providing enough electricity to run the LED, a radio, or a battery charger.

Gravity Light shows attention to detail in the ability to adapt it to power other critical components. The device is an organic in its simplicity – an alternative form of electricity that requires very little instruction. Finally, it fells human in its small-scale, household intervention that makes a real difference in the lives of those not able to access standard electrical grids. For these reasons, Gravity Light is a desirable product.
