The Wenger “Musician” chair seems pretty mundane, but is quite a remarkable product. During the recent wave of body and health awareness, Wenger responded to a demand for chairs for orchestral musicians that don’t want to get back problems for sitting down for so long everyday. The seats are shaped and designed to promote better posture, and are streamlined so that parts don’t stick out and scratch/dent expensive instruments. Wenger obviously is very successful, as is evident by the fact that every music institution (that I’ve been to at least) has a large set of these chairs, from Carnegie Hall to the music department here at Harvard.
