For my final project I decided challenge myself with another concrete furniture project. I wanted to explore beyond the typical gray concrete look, and create something that looked like it could be put right into someone’s home. I kept in mind Dieter Rams’ ten design principles and strived to make my table innovative, useful, aesthetic, unobtrusive, honest, and have as little design as possible.
This table speaks for itself. The rusty look challenges your thoughts about what concrete can look like, and the legs are simple, bold and strong. The crack in the table, although not intentional, seems to give it a little character. I’d like to think that if I had a nice apartment on the Upper East Side I would put this in my living room. 🙂
