WIG: Chemex Coffeemaker

My preferred coffee-brewing method is using a Chemex. I still remember the first time I saw the product on the counter in my friend’s kitchen: I mentioned that I liked his family’s vase, and he laughed, mentioning that it wasn’t a vase, but a coffee maker. This is, to me, one of the most appealing aspects of the Chemex–aesthetically, it is beautiful. Unlike other coffee makers, it isn’t an eyesore in the kitchen; its sleek, minimalist hourglass design (along with its heatproof wooden collar complete with decorative beads) deems it a tasteful decorative piece on top of already being a valuable, functional tool for the coffee-lover. That being said, the Chemex’s beauty isn’t its only selling point–it also brews delicious coffee! Using its special, thick filter paper, the Chemex is better than traditional drip coffee makers at removing oils and residue, yielding a cleaner and better-tasting product.
