I seem to never have had an affinity towards coding, regardless of how simplified or visualized they are (Grasshopper, Processing…) But with Arduino, I was able to understand and be interested in the process, perhaps because it requires a combination of digital coding and hands-on meddling. I learned and practiced the physics of how electricity flows through circuits, how the Arduino feather microcontroller can perform basic functions like a power output and the difference between a digital and analog output among the pinholes. After the completing the initial LED task I continued to make progress, overcoming problems that emerged when the “real” part of the challenge began, which is to control the behavior of the unit and elements attached to the board from executing commands on the software. This included having to source and download a customized IDE setup and finding the board profile specific to our unit.
